Painted in 1991, Roommates catches Roy Lichtenstein at the moment Pop Art moved beyond comic strips and into layered, slightly surreal interiors. His signature Ben-Day dots, bold outlines and vivid colour blocks build a room that feels oddly familiar, yet doesn't exist anywhere in real life, pieced together from design magazines, adverts and his own sketches.
